Ghosting is a practice of presence, gaze, activation. A series of articulations seeking to understand a danced relationship between time, embodied (cultural) memory, and thought. What are some of the processes taking place when a dancer improvises? What is the knowledge a dancer carries, ranging from the personal to the cultural to the "universal"? And yet - at some point, the measurable and describable concrete softens at the edges into a shift of the heart, a quieting of the spirit, a flowering of a metaphor.
#ghosting: an ongoing investigation of improvised dancing, in relation to the form and format of Instagram, and letter writing.
Ghosting: Indelible in the Hippocampus
"The ghosting and dying of a body seems inevitable, yet, Bernice wants to gain control over it again. We end abruptly and suddenly as she yells ‘STOP RECORDING’, before the lights black out. Bernice has shown that she can and will find some form of control, as futile as it seems, and we must never let ourselves fade away to simply becoming ghosts of our selves." - bakchormeeboy
